Hawkeye Wireless requires a clear radio frequency line-of-sight to our transmission tower in order to work properly. We start every installation with a free site survey to determine if you have a suitable location to mount your antenna. We will sell you a kit that includes the antenna, low-loss cable, lightening arrestor, and card or adapter. You are responsible for providing electricity and the ground wire and a suitable locations for an antenna mount.

What equipment will I need and what does it cost? You will need our Hawkeye Wireless kit includes an antenna, cable and radio. You will also need to erect a suitable antenna mast and provide electricity and a ground wire. The kit is designed to plug directly into your PC or Server. For office use Hawkeye Wireless will sell a router that will allow multi-users to use one internet connection.
 

Now I've got the equipment in - what does my Internet service cost?  Questions

We bill you based on how much bandwidth you need. Our basic 256kbps 49.00 pr/mo . Higher bandwidth quotes are available on request up to 1Mbps

Will there be 'holes' in my wirefree coverage?Questions

No. Hawkeye Wireless is based upon a robust radio technology that has been delivering flawless, reliable coverage in hospitals, banks, stock exchanges, warehouses and academic settings-even the United States Government- for years.

How much bandwidth does the Hawkeye Wireless network have? Questions

Hawkeye Wireless uses a new generation of high speed Broadband Wireless Access products in the ISM band, taking advantage of the newly released FCC ruling on Wideband Frequency Hopping systems.

How many computers can I connect with Hawkeye Wireless? Questions

The amount of users depends upon the products purchased from Hawkeye Wireless. We have a solution to fit everyone's needs.

How can I be mobile and still connected to the Internet with Hawkeye Wireless?  Questions

If you own a laptop computer, you can be moving around the home or office and still stay connected to the wirefree network because of the wireless link. Because Hawkeye Wireless uses radio frequency (RF) technology, you remain connected as long as you stay within range of another active product.

Is Hawkeye Wireless secure?  Questions

Hawkeye Wireless uses a combination of advanced technology, antenna diversity, digital signal processing, and frequency hopping to assure secure, reliable wireless connectivity.

Is Hawkeye Wireless safe to use in a home or office?Questions

Yes. Just like cordless telephones, Hawkeye Wireless uses products that are approved by the appropriate government regulatory agencies for safety (FCC, for example). They will not interfere with pacemakers or any other type of medical equipment.

Will Hawkeye Wireless interfere with any other electronic equipment in my home or office?  Questions
Hawkeye Wireless systems will experience some disturbances with microwave ovens. To avoid possible disruption in service keep microwave ovens away from radios.

How reliable are Hawkeye Wireless products?Questions

Hawkeye Wireless uses radio-based point-to-multipoint wireless broadband connections that are comparable in speed and price to DSL or cable service - with better reliability and normally faster .

What computer operating systems does Hawkeye Wireless work with?  Questions

Hawkeye Wireless currently works with Windows '95 and Windows '98 Windows CE, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 , Linux ect.

What is the limit of the coverage area?Questions
Hawkeye Wireless plans to design their coverage to meet Fort Dodge's needs.

How far away from the transmitters can the location be? Questions
We use a transceiver from a tower location 10miles in radius
with the proper equipment .  However, Hawkeye Wireless plans to have various tower sites in the Fort Dodge area to better suit it's users needs.

Will the user be provided a static Internet IP address to do some internal hosting? Questions
We can give a Static IP's , and DNS, however, there will be a cost to this feature per/mth. The user will be given a domain user.hawkeyewireless.net free of charge .
Is the transfer rate both ways? Questions
Yes, unlike DSL and Cable modems where the transfer rate change's from upload and download.

Does weather (rain, snow) affect reception in any way, like it does with some microwave wireless solutions? Questions
In a heavy rain attenuation may be caused at the ratio of .02 dB/mile .  Snow and ice have negligible attenuation.  To sum up the weather effects on our system,  there will be unnoticeable loss or none at all.
