IBA President Message

What a great Fall Festival!! Only way it could have been better was 20 degrees cooler. Thanks to everyone that made it to the FF and fought the heat.

I’ve got a ton of people to thank, Cal Struchen & Bob Branchcomb for the awesome range set up. I don’t believe we have ever received some many compliments on the course. They had a ton of help, thanks to everyone involved. Basically we had a three day shoot this year; everything was ready by Thursday evening. Big thanks to Larry Krohn, Tom Vogel and Dana Canfield for setting up and running the novelty shoots. Thanks to their new ideas they raised a thousand dollars for the Bowhunter Defense Fund. Big thanks to Pine Lake Archers for all the meals they served.

Special THANKS to all the businesses, companies and individuals for their generous donations, without your help the FF wouldn’t be possible. We gave away several hundred dollars of merchandise Saturday evening. We gave away 2 bows over the weekend thanks to the generosity of Scott Wymore and Rick Motzko.

There are many more people who stepped up to help, thanks to all of you; I apologize for not listing you by name.

We did have two incidents at the FF that I find very disturbing. First of all someone deliberately broke the legs off a brand new buffalo, antlers were ripped off the animals and thrown in the weeds, this is the second year we have had vandalism on the range. Last year it was a buffalo and an elk. If it continues we will buy 40 deer, turkey and coyotes. It takes a lot of money to set up the range like it was this year and we can’t continue to buy the large animals only to have them destroyed.

Even more disturbing was the fact that we had a thief in our group, someone stole a Mathews Switchback from a fellow bowhunter, doesn’t get much lower than that. If you know of someone that shows up with a new bow and no probable way to pay for it contact me. We have a $500 reward for the return of the bow.

Good luck this fall, send me some photos and a short story and we’ll get you on the website.

Good Hunting!
